| Benjamin has been helping the Sparkle Appeal | ||
There are over 1200 children with a disability living in Newport, South Monmouthshire and South Torfaen. Currently there is no single facility that can support the fully co-ordinated range of assessments, therapies, support and advice services that children with disabilities and their families need. All to often this means that children and their families find themselves attending a bewildering array of appointments at facilities which simply were never designed with the needs of children with disabilities in mind, let alone their families, or those who care for them. The new children's centre is to be built on a 14 acre site at High Cross in Newport, which has already been gifted to the project. This site presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop a truly unique and wonderful children's centre. The new children's centre will provide an extensive range of facilities which have been designed to ensure that Health, Education, Social Services and the Voluntary and Charitable Sector are able to provide care, treatment, support and advice - under one roof. But the South Gwent Children's Centre will provide so much more than assessment, medical and therapy facilities. At the heart of the new centre will be places where children and their families can meet and support each other, to play, to enjoy beautiful gardens, so needed, so important, yet rarely available at the moment. The aim of the new centre is simple, to help each child reach it's full potential, whatever that might be. The Foundation understands that it is not possible to turn back the clock and undo a child's disability, but has listened carefully to what children, parents and professionals want and need. It believes that building a new centre will really make a difference to the lives of so many. To do this the Foundation needs to raise £6,000,000, Benjamin is delighted to do what he can, hopefully so will many others to help the Foundation make some special children shine! |
